PENDOLINO
And just for your information: the brand new train of State Railways, Pendolino, has been painted! With a colorful window-down-whole-car!
The story goes that the next day of the writer’s attack the train was supposed to be presented to the public, but when the train was scheduled to slide slowly to the station… it didn’t! The press was little surprised and very anxious to see the pride and joy of the State Railways, which didn’t want to give any comments on this delay. There wasn’t any word in the media that Pendolino was painted, probably ‘cos the State Railways was mad and ashamed that something like this could happen despite the fact that there was supposed to be heavy security around the train.
Finally, after a few hours of waiting Pendolino arrived at the station – clean!!!
But which can be done once, it sure as hell can be done twice!
HAPPENING NOW
In Sweden when a train is painted by graffiti writers at night, it gets painted again in the morning by the Swedish transit authorities. and this means painted: the whole car is painted again with blue in the early morning hours before it takes a single meter in traffic. So night photos are a must to take!
And yes, our so happy Finland has also taken this sort of a step in the path of never ending fight with painters and State Railways. The pieces are not totally painted over, the VR employees “only” cross out pieces and carefully erase every tag and other bombed texts in the car. And trains look worse than a car smothered with throw-ups and tags! The only purpose is to make writers notice that it is not good to paint trains ‘cos their pieces won’t run in the condition to gain photos.
The method is cruel, but it hardly stops the train painting. Just remember, if you’re out there in the yards creating destruction – take night photos! They just might be the only ones you’ll get.
